چکیده
An efficient finite-element-method-based scattering operator (FEM-SO) is proposed. Utilizing field based propagation operators as boundary conditions, arbitrary light waves including radiation and evanescent can be treated at input output ports. In contrast to conventional techniques, the FEM-SO applicable structures by using finite element models. addition, considering structural discontinuities connecting of operators, an interface matrix satisfy conditions between unit introduced. To verify present approach, numerical examples are shown for characteristics high-index-contrast waveguide facet power spectrum a photonic-crystal Fabry–Perot (FP) cavity filter.

Filling Arbitrary Holes in Finite Element Models
We present a new approach for filling arbitrary holes in Finite Element (FE) models composed of independent meshes which are commonly used in Computer Aided Engineering (CAE). During the preprocessing of an FE model for fluid structure simulation a closed structure hull is required in order to subsequently generate a volume mesh representing the fluid. Today’s complex CAE models include thousan...
متن کاملFinite Element Analysis of Open - type Dielectric / Optical Waveguides
Optical fibers or integrated optical waveguides have arbitrary cross-sectional index or refraction distribution. An efficient finite element method for analyzing the propagation characteristics of dielectric / optical waveguides with open boundary is presented. The propagation modes are hybrid, for which a variational expression is formulated in terms of the longitudinal electric and magnetic f...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Finite Element Method Mode Solver Application for Optical Waveguides
Finite Element Method constitutes one of the most powerful numerical methods when there is need for approximate solutions of a problem. In this work an application with a user-friendly graphical interface, developed in Matlab, is presented which facilitates the calculation and graphical presentation of the propagation constants and modes of various types of optical waveguides using FEM. To chec...
